How it works

1

Paste the URL

Drop a YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, Reddit, or Pinterest link into the box above. We auto-detect the platform.

2

Pick a size

Available thumbnails appear as a grid. YouTube returns up to 6 standard sizes plus 3 auto-frames. Others return one HD thumbnail.

3

Download or edit

"Download" saves to your device. "Open in Editor" loads it into the ThumbCrafted editor so you can add text, blur, and effects on top.

Frequently asked

Which platforms does this support?
YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, Spotify, SoundCloud, Dailymotion, Imgur, Twitch (live streams only), Loom, and Pinterest. We do not support Facebook, Instagram, or X/Twitter because those platforms require paid API access. Reddit is best-effort — works sometimes, often blocked because Reddit explicitly denies server-side requests. For YouTube specifically, all standard thumbnail sizes (max-res 1280×720 down to small 120×90) plus the three auto-extracted video frames are returned.
Is it really free? Any watermarks?
Yes, completely free. No signup, no watermark, no upload to our servers. Thumbnails fetch directly from each platform's public CDN. Your downloaded files are exactly what the original uploader posted.
What if my URL doesn't work?
The video may be private, removed, or the URL may be malformed. Public posts almost always work. Paste the URL exactly as it appears in the platform's share dialog (the long form, not a screenshot). For YouTube, both youtube.com/watch?v=... and youtu.be/... formats work, plus Shorts and Embed URLs.
Can I use these thumbnails for my own videos?
Thumbnails are subject to the original creator's copyright. Use them for inspiration, reference, A/B comparison, or your own previously-uploaded content (where you own the rights). For copying competitor thumbnails directly, get permission first.
What's "Open in Editor" do?
Sends the chosen thumbnail straight into the ThumbCrafted editor where you can add text, blur backgrounds, draw shapes, apply filters, and download a new version. Great for editing your own old uploads or building variations to A/B test.
