Take a screenshot of any window, straight into the editor
Share a screen, a window or a tab, press Capture, and the frame is yours at the size the browser streams it.
Grab a frame of a game, an app or a paused video for a thumbnail without saving a screenshot first and hunting for the file. Each capture is a lossless PNG you can open in the editor, frame with a backdrop, or download. The stream stays on this page and stops the moment you say so.

Desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Video only, no sound.
This browser cannot share its screen with a web page. Screen sharing to a page works in desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. It is not available on iPhone or iPad, and most Android browsers do not offer it either, so there is nothing for this page to capture here. If the moment you want is in a video file, Video to JPG pulls full-size frames from the file instead. If you already took a screenshot with your phone's buttons, the beautifier frames it. How to take a screenshot into the editor
1
Share a screen, window or tab
Press the button and your browser lists what you can share. Pick the window with the game, app or paused video. The page sees only that, and only until you stop.
2
Capture the frame
Press Capture when the frame is right. A countdown gives you time to switch windows, and the floating button lets you capture without coming back to this tab.
3
Open it in the editor
Pick a capture and open it in the editor to add a title, send it to the beautifier for a backdrop and frame, or download it as a PNG.
Why capture here instead of saving a screenshot first
The usual route to a thumbnail frame is long: press the screenshot keys, find where the file landed, crop off the taskbar, then upload it to an editor. Each step is small, but together they are why people settle for whatever frame they happened to grab. Here the frame goes from the stream to the editor in two clicks, with nothing saved on the way unless you want it.
It also keeps the pixels honest. A capture is drawn from the stream at exactly the size the browser sends it, which the page prints under the preview, and it is saved as PNG, which is lossless. There is no JPG step softening the edges of text or game UI before you even start editing.

Option
What you get
Best for
Window
One application window and nothing else. Notifications, the taskbar and other apps stay out of the shot.
Games in windowed mode, design apps, a video player you have paused.
Tab
A single browser tab, without the address bar or bookmarks.
A web app, a paused video in another tab, a page you want to show.
Entire screen
Everything on that display, taskbar and all.
Full-screen games and anything that will not share as a window. Crop the edges afterwards.
Getting a clean frame from a game or a paused video
Hide the controls. Most video players hide their control bar after the mouse stops moving for a moment. Pause, move the pointer off the video, wait, then capture.
Use the countdown for hands-on moments. Set 3, 5 or 10 seconds, press Capture, switch to the game and play into the moment. The capture fires on its own.
Keep the floating button on top. In desktop Chrome and Edge, the floating capture button opens a small window that stays above other windows. Put it in a corner of the game and capture as often as you like.
Take several and choose later. The list holds up to 24 captures. Pick the best one, then remove the rest.
What the page can and cannot see
Screen sharing in a browser is opt-in every time. The browser shows its own picker, the page receives only what you chose, and the browser shows that sharing is on for as long as it lasts. Press Stop sharing here, or the browser's own stop control, and every track of the stream is stopped; the preview goes blank and nothing more can be read. The stream and the captures exist only in this tab's memory. Nothing is sent to a server, and the line under the hero counts the bytes of request body that leave the page while you share so you can check that claim rather than trust it.
Some protected video, such as films on paid streaming services, shows as a black rectangle in any screen capture. That is the browser or the operating system protecting the content, and no capture tool can get around it. For your own uploads, a frame from the original file is sharper anyway: Video to JPG reads the file directly and can rank its sharpest frames.
Screen Capture Questions
Is my screen uploaded anywhere?
No. The stream goes from your browser's screen sharing into a video element on this page, and each capture is drawn to a canvas and saved as a PNG in the tab. Nothing is transmitted. The line under the hero counts the bytes of request body sent while you share, and it stays at zero.
Why does it not work on my iPhone, iPad or Android phone?
Those browsers do not let web pages share the screen, so there is no stream for the page to capture, and the page says so instead of showing a button that cannot work. Take the screenshot with your phone's own buttons and frame it in the Screenshot Beautifier, or, if the moment is in a video file, use Video to JPG.
Which browsers work?
Desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari can share a screen, window or tab with a page. The floating capture button needs Document Picture-in-Picture, which desktop Chrome and Edge have; in other browsers the button is simply not shown and everything else works. On a Mac, the browser also needs Screen Recording permission in System Settings, under Privacy and Security.
What size are the captures?
Each capture is a PNG at exactly the width and height of the stream, which the page prints under the preview, for example 1920 x 1080. The page never scales it down. The browser chooses the stream size from what you share, so if a capture is smaller than your display, that is the size the browser sent.
What does the floating capture button do?
It opens a small window that stays on top of other windows, with its own Capture button and a count of captures taken. Leave it over a game or an app and capture without switching back to this tab. It closes when you stop sharing, and you can close it yourself at any time.
Can I grab a frame of a paused video?
Yes. Pause it, move the pointer away so the player controls hide, and capture. Protected video on some paid streaming services captures as black, which is the browser or the system protecting it. Use frames from your own videos, or from footage you have permission to use.
Is sound recorded?
No. The page asks the browser for video only, and it takes still frames, not a recording. There is no audio track to keep.
What are the limits?
Up to 24 captures at a time; remove some to take more. Each one is a PNG at the stream's own width and height, with no cap from the page. The countdown is 3, 5 or 10 seconds. Captures live only in this tab's memory and are gone when you leave or close the page, unless you download one or open it in the editor or the beautifier. Video only, no sound. There is no daily limit.
Is there a watermark?
No. Captures are saved exactly as drawn from the stream, with nothing stamped on them. The file name starts with ThumbCrafted-, and that is the only mark.
